Someday List Update!!!

I am your parent, you are my child.
I am your quiet place, you are my wild.
I am your calm face, you are my giggle.
I am your wait, you are my wiggle.
I am your finish line, you are my race.
I am your praying hands,
You are my saving grace.
I am your lullaby, you are my peekaboo.
I am your goodnight kiss,
You are my I Love You.

Awhile back I posted a blog entitled "Someday List." It is with GREAT pleasure and GREAT faith that I am able to cross something off my list. As of August 5th, 2011 I will officially be quitting my job. I am so thrilled to be able to stay at home with Wesley. However, in the same breath I am anxious because this will be a huge adjustment for our family. I have been with this company from Aug 2006-Aug 2011...so I will definitely miss a lot of my coworkers-but we need to do what is best for our family

My previous blog was about this situation. James and I were faced with the decision to either find daycare for Wesley or for me to stay at home with him. After going over everything in great detail, we are putting our trust in God that He will provide for us.

As we step out in faith, please keep us in your prayers.

I cannot express how excited I am to be with my lil man throughout the day!!!

  3. Dear brave one,
Wow, you and your husband will never be sorry for your decision. The long desire you have had to be with your precious one (and future baby(ies)?)will bring huge dividends. Your joy will hardly be able to be contained--think of trying to drink from a gushing fire hose!

Little Wesley may not have the "stuff" you might be able to give him if you were working but he'll have YOU. Wow.

I thought I'd share a pull quote from the book I referenced earlier to you, "Women Leaving the Workplace" by Larry Burkett. This quote comes from the chapter that shares thoughts from children, young and adult on Moms staying home.

This is from Elisa, age 19, "If you're considering whether to be a stay-at-home mom or a working mom, first ask yourself what the definition of a "mom" is.
Being the daughter of a mom who stayed home throughout my childhood, my definition would not be someone I hardly saw and scarcely knew, who showed me her love by giving me a better lifestyle or more possessions.
I can remember my mother by the memories of working side by side in the garden, her helping me with homework teaching me things I would someday need to know [Elisa was homeschooled], and being there when I needed her.
Even though I took it for granted then, I look back now and see her selfless devotion. She gave up material goals and career opportunities to be there for me. She gave me her love in place of things, and she let me know I was more important than anything else.
I was special enough for her to give up all else to be a full-time mother, not just be my mother when she had an available time slot for me. I was her priority."

My mom was also a stay-at-home mom. I'm 53, so back then it wasn't unusual for moms to do so. I grew up thinking it was "normal." We kids never went without everything we needed. Our school clothes came from Penneys and not boutiques. We had playclothes to change into after school to help our school clothes last longer.

Boutique clothes don't matter now. What matters now is to have the oh-so-special memory that Mom was there to greet us after school, to give us a snack, and to spend time with us before Dad got home.

Lindsay, Wesley will grow up knowing you are his priority. Certain material things you and your husband enjoy or want now may have to be set aside or abandoned. But the Lord will not leave you adrift. He will open your eyes to wonderful avenues to score big time for your needs to be met. In short, He will bless your socks off in myriad ways!

God bless you and your husband for your decision. And God bless you both for looking at this carefully and prayerfully.

With love and big cyber hugs,

    ~Patricia
